‘In the long- run, no input must be used in fixed proportions’. Discuss.

Ans: Yes, it is true in the long run, that no input must be used in fixed proportions if the minerals become increasingly scare, and their price rise substantially, alternative processes will be found that use less of these minerals. As the price of the minerals rise, producers will find ways to decrease the proportions in which these minerals are used.

So, in the long run, no input must be used in fixed all the inputs are invariable proportions. In 1970, people found ways to use less as it become more expensive. Before that period no one thought that would be possible. During world war II, manufacturer learned to use synthetic rubber when natural rubber become almost on existent. As wood become more expensive at the turn of the century people learned to useless wood. For this reasons we will continue to concentrate on production under variable proportions.

In long run, all inputs one variable, there is no input is used in fixed proportions if in the long run inputs are used in fixed proportions then their will be scarcity of inputs. The natural inputs are very scare in nature if these inputs are lost in future then there is no alternative availed except the use of its substitutes. So, that’s why in the long run, according to the demand of the products, the inputs are used. The proportion of inputs in the long period can be increased or decreased but according to the demand & supply of demand.

So, In the long run no input used in fixed proportions.
